(Novum/AP) - Vijf modellen zijn komende week niet welkom op de catwalk van het belangrijkste mode-evenement in Spanje. De dames waren namelijk ongezond dun. Vorige week besloot de organisatie van de modeshow in Madrid, Pasarela Cibeles, vrouwen te weigeren die te licht zijn voor hun lengte.
Achtenzestig mannequins werden gecontroleerd door een medisch team. De vijf 'afvallers' waren langer dan 1,75 meter en wogen minder dan 55 kilo, een verhouding die volgens de Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie ongezond is.
De modeshow wil een beeld uitstralen van schoonheid, elegantie en gezondheid, zegt de organisatie.
